Minnesota bank held up twice in one day

Wed Nov 14, 9:58 PM ET

WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. - The TCF Bank in a Cub Foods was held up twice in one day — by different robbers. Kyle Loven, a supervisory special agent at the FBI's Minneapolis office, said the first robbery happened around 9 a.m. Tuesday, when a man presented a demand note to a bank teller and implied he had a gun.

The man got an undisclosed amount of cash, then left the grocery store and ran away to a wooded area. Police West St. Paul police officers, FBI and a canine team searched the area but could not find the suspect, West St. Paul police Chief Bud Shaver said.

The law enforcement officers left after the first robbery, except for one West St. Paul investigators who stayed to gather more witness statements. He left the bank about 1:50 p.m. to get more paperwork out of his unmarked car.

That's when the second robber struck.

"I kid you not," Shaver said. "When he got back a few minutes later, a bank employee said, 'We've just been robbed. Again.' "

The second suspect showed bank employees a handgun tucked into his waistband, then also ran away into the nearby woods with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He also wasn't caught.

Loven said FBI agents had just gotten back to their office when they heard about the second robbery. "When we were told the same bank had been hit again, we were a little stumped," he said.

Loven, who has been with the FBI for 12 years, said he has never heard of the same bank being robbed twice in one day.

I'm glad to know our tax dollars are going to the right places.

New Site Theme

So I got a template from this guy. After a couple modifications to fit my tastes, and setting the template up for the blog page, you end up with this. I'll have to be updating the sidebar manually though, once a week shouldn't be time consuming.

I'll also be adding a forum too, as soon as I get mysql enabled (which could be now if I had ten bucks). One of those gay "invisionfree" forums won't do.

Mr. Ric Hoogestraat

It's one of those moments again...
Examine this news article, courtesy of the New York Times:

"On a scorching July afternoon, Ric Hoogestraat sits at his computer with the blinds drawn, smoking a cigarette. While his wife, Sue, watches television in the living room, Mr. Hoogestraat chats online with what appears on the screen to be a tall, slim redhead.

He's never met the woman outside of the computer world of Second Life. He's never so much as spoken to her on the telephone. But their relationship has taken on curiously real dimensions. They own two dogs, pay a mortgage together and spend hours shopping at the mall and taking long motorcycle rides. This May, when Mr. Hoogestraat, 53, needed real-life surgery, the redhead cheered him up with a private island that cost her $120,000 in the virtual world's currency, or about $480 in real-world dollars. Their bond is so strong that three months ago, Mr. Hoogestraat asked Janet Spielman, the 38-year-old Canadian woman who controls the redhead, to become his virtual wife."

Or if you're too "busy" to the read the above:

Apparently his real wife is going to leave him because he spends 14 hours a day online. And here's another quote from the article:

"Mr. Hoogestraat had bounced between places and jobs, working as an elementary schoolteacher and a ski instructor, teaching computer graphics and spending two years on the road selling herbs and essential oils at Renaissance fairs."

I bet he sells Avantoes in Seer's Village while cybering with a 36 year old Canadian for gp. Thanks Mr. Hoogestraat for making the rest of us feel better about our lives.

Shitty Graffiti

Unfortunately the following pictures will not be nearly as clever as this. And now for the shitty ones:

At least we have patriotic gangbangers.

How often do you see this spray painted on a train?
